Terracota is fired earth, a clay orange laid over iron, warm rather than bright. It is the most grounded shade in the collection and, against expectation, it conducts itself as a neutral. It sits with camel, with chocolate, with olive and with cream, and asks nothing of any of them. Across the quilting the facets lift toward apricot while the folds settle into rust.
The bag is cut by hand from one skin. The faceted line is aligned by hand from the lock to the base seam, and the padding worked from behind, so the face of the leather carries no visible seaming and the depth of the shade is never interrupted.
Our hardware is made in Italy, cast in solid brass, hand-finished and plated in 18-karat gold there. Gold on terracotta is a pairing borrowed from architecture rather than from fashion. Inside, orange suede lines the bag throughout, one of the seven interiors chosen against the exterior: a clear, unmixed orange under a shade that has been deliberately dulled with iron.
